Oxygenation systems are specifically engineered to raise levels of dissolved oxygen in the ocean environment. The flow rates of oxygen systems are typically much lower than an aeration systems. It is used during any phase of the aquaculture operation, from daily supplementation to increase growth and performance, to times of harvest or treatment when low dissolved oxygen levels can get to critical levels for the fish.
Aeration uses ambient air through a compressor that goes to a delivery system. This air is used to mainly move water throughout the pen environment. It is also used in warm water temperatures to bring cooler water from below to the surface.
